NOFROST by K-Adriatica, for sudden cold snaps
The fear of a possible return of cold weather causes concern among fruit growers every year, especially considering the past few years that have been particularly critical in this respect. The weather forecasts are followed with spasmodic attention, as each grower prepares as best he can, hoping that the situation will not get worse.
K-Adriatica, an expert in the development of fertilisers and manures for plant nutrition, is a strategic ally in meeting this challenge. And how does it do this? With K-Adriatica's NOFROST nutritional solution, a formulation specifically designed to prevent and reduce the damage caused by sudden cold snaps, which supports producers in this delicate phase.
Maria Rosaria Stile, Research & Development Manager of the Adriatica Group, explains the peculiarities of K-Adriatica's NOFROST: "The special combination of an effective cryoprotectant and a mixture of trace elements carried by an organic matrix allows NOFROST to raise the plants' resistance threshold, lowering the freezing point of the sap. This process prevents the formation of ice crystals inside the cells, while preserving plant health. In addition, the presence of colloidal compounds promotes the creation of a thin protective film, further enhancing the defence of the treated parts."
"Adriatica's fertiliser NOFROST - adds the K-Adriatica researcher - proved its efficacy in field tests, proving to be lifesaving for actinidia shoots when night-time minimum temperatures even reached -3.6°C. In addition, it preserved cherry blossom despite temperatures dropping to -2.7°C, preventing irreversible damage found in untreated witnesses. Similarly, vines benefited considerably from the application of K-Adriatica's NOFROST, with treated plants suffering half as much damage as the witnesses."
How should Adriatica's NOFROST be applied? In the Adriatica 2023 catalogue, foliar fertilisation is indicated, with doses ranging from 3 to 6 kg to be applied with 600/1000 litres of water per hectare. We recommend using 3 kg per hectare in repeated applications, 2-3 days apart; if particularly adverse weather conditions are expected, it is advisable to opt for a single application of 6 kg per hectare, to be carried out 18-20 hours before the temperature drops.
In this way it is possible to maximise the benefits of K-Adriatica's NOFROST, ensuring effective protection and increased plant resistance to sudden drops in temperature!
